POWER comes as abit of a twist, as it’s the first scent released by Ayesha Ziya where she has taken a step back from her signature style of blending scents based around oud. My first impressions were that it’s an interesting scent, as the patchouli and lavender notes hit me pretty quickly.
These are usually found in the base of perfumes thus & become apparent a little while after the scent has been worn, however these came up pretty quickly for me with power; giving me a fresh, earthy first impression. She wasn’t joking when she said power was designed with capturing the world in mind!
I think she took abit of a risk with the earthy stance of patchouli and lavender, but I also think it has paid off as the aromas are well offset against contrasts of soft accords of rose, warm notes of amber, and sexy notes of jasmine.
It’s pretty much a unisex scent and could be enjoyed by men or women, especially women who enjoy mens scents! I would even go as far to say this could even replace the famous HIS & HERS combinations of IRUM & THE OUD, to form a new duo; IRUM & POWER for couples who prefer scents from the range that are not as woody as the rest of the range or centred around the signature ingredient of oud.
The scent was released spring/summer of 2019, which is ideal as it is definitely a scent that can be enjoyed throughout spring/summer as people turn to fresher, more foral scents compared to the choices they make during autumn and winter for darker, woodier, spicier exotic scents that characterise most of the previous scents released by Ayesha Ziya.
